SuperSmart’s ursolic acid supplement comes in vegetarian capsules and provides significant benefits for your overall well-being. In studies, it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and shown to inhibit some viruses. Rosemary leaves contain precious substances. Ursolic acid and its isomer, oleanolic acid, are chemically almost identical, their structure varying only in the position of a methyl group (CH3).
There are only a few foods high in ursolic acid, including fruit skins, such as apples and grapes, as well as common herbs, such as rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sage. While eating ursolic acid foods is a good way to increase intake naturally, it can be difficult to consume enough of those foods to meet your daily requirement. That makes supplements one of the best sources of ursolic acid.
As mentioned above, ursolic acid and oleanolic acid are chemically similar, the only difference being the position of the methyl group (CH3) in their structure. However, both offer potentially vital health benefits.
So, what is ursolic acid used for? In nature, ursolic acid is found in a variety of plants, but you can also take ursolic acid capsules to ensure proper intake. So far, the science regarding ursolic acid health benefits is largely preliminary, but studies continue to exhibit potential advantages. One study indicates that there may be ursolic acid skin benefits, while another study indicates an increase in skeletal muscle growth.
While we do not have all of the evidence needed yet, it is clear that people take ursolic acid supplements to promote their overall well-being.
Ursolic acid has traditionally been used for the skin as it appears to repair damaged tissue in the cutaneous barrier and scalp. Taking ursolic acid for skin care may also protect against photo-aging and could be a potent inhibitor of elastase, an enzyme present in the skin which attacks structural proteins.
With its multitude of properties, ursolic acid is an important addition to the range of phytoceutical resources available for anti-aging in general.
Because ursolic acid has also shown to have anti-infection effects and to inhibit some viruses, it is used to promote overall health. Recent studies on rats have even indicated that its inhibitory power (reversible) on human leukocyte elastase may have potential in combating inflammatory lung infections, such as the H1N1 and SARS viruses. Ursolic acid also has shown anti-microbial and immune-stimulant effects, specifically against the effects of tuberculosis, according to one study.
Other research shows it may inhibit memory impairment by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase – reducing the enzymatic degradation of acetylcholine and improving cholinergic transmission.
Studies show ursolic acid may be beneficial to the body’s muscles. Potential benefits of ursolic acid for muscles include:
Ursolic acid has been studied to be a powerful and natural anti-inflammatory that inhibits human leukocyte elastase (HLE) as well as 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase-2 activity, and prostaglandin synthesis. Other potential ursolic acid supplement benefits are its antioxidant and anti-MMP-9 (matrix metalloproteinase-9) effects.

I have MS & read reports on Ursolic Acid being studied for improving some MS symptoms. So far any results are minor or questionable. .I have noted the following: For the past several years I have ben experiencing some small, hard, & rough growths on my head & ears. After 2 weeks of taking 3 to 6 capsules / day I noted these growths were disappearing. After 2 months of use I have none of these growths. I have not changed anything else in my diet & am not on any prescription drugs.
